One of my favorite things to do is to go out an a little mini adventure / location scout / photo shoot with the kids. We used to do this more often when we had a crazy long commute and needed a distraction to keep our minds off the drive ahead. Accident on the Freeway, 90 minute drive home? No problem. Let's just grab a sandwich and find some pretty light.
Now that we live minutes from school and work, it can be harder to just get out and shoot. We have to make an effort to drive somewhere other than home after a long day of 9-5 work and school. But mini adventures can be fun and shooting somewhere new is always a welcome challenge.
Sometimes our adventures consist of happy kids, beautiful pristine locations and willing models. And sometimes, like this night, it's full of garbage piles, semi-enthusiastic kids and strangers driving their jeeps just a little too close / a little too fast. At least there was gorgeous, fire orange light and dancing in the dust.
